Master plan, feasibility studies, programming, adoption of the charter and implementation methods for public spaces in the heart of Montpellier in a wide variety of contexts (safeguarded areas, boulevards, neighborhoods, ANRU, etc.).
How to support the rapid renewal of public spaces in Montpellier's old town center with a coherent, adaptive method? The approach consisted in systematically considering uses and shared programming from the outset of the project. A detailed study of existing situations and how they were evolving enabled development strategies to be drawn up in consultation with the city's departments and elected representatives, prior to the actual design of the public space.
Innovative interventions have been implemented (planting with the participation of residents, educational gardens, etc.). The public space charter has thus evolved from a catalog of materials to an implementation process. This project reflects an evolution in the approach to public space: from a simple selection of materials to a development method where each intervention is designed to reinforce collective urban appropriation.
