Rehabilitation of public spaces in the heart of the city of Grasse in order to continue to inhabit a palimpsest city. Project not awarded.

Intervening in a old city center that is still alive is part of a long history. What is the public heritage spaces challenge today? Climate habitability sounds like a challenge in a space with strong architectural features and significant technical constraints: a "gruyère" ground made of friable tuff, limiting water infiltration, an ultra-necessary summer comfort in the face of heatwave episodes, an intensity of varied uses to be preserved.

The project restores a contemporary sense, between strict preservation of built heritage, desire to rediscover history, integration of environmental issues and conservation of high attendance.
Public space must not be too demonstrative or drawn. It is obvious, modest and balanced, while providing real urban comfort through materials, the play of spatial dynamics, and a resolutely contemporary language.
The sensory experience is thus finalized by a panoramic viewpoint, a vertiginous break through the original castrum. A guaranteed sensory experience !
