Public space of social housing « La Solidarité »

Urban renewal project (PRU) Notre-Dame Limite/Solidarité, resumption of public spaces with a varied program of parks, playgrounds, school paths and nurseries, shared gardens with harmonious and vegetated parking management.

How to create public spaces on a human scale, pleasant and friendly at the foot of 18-storey towers located at the top of a hill and disconnected from the constituted city? Besides the slope and the integration of parking, the articulation with disparate equipment and vast natural spaces were the main challenges of the project. The method consisted of first defining a program with the social housing provider, the residents and the city then an architectural language of the public space in accordance with the prefabricated and textured architecture of the large complex.

Simple materials, unique and durable, requiring little maintenance, they are used sparingly on structuring axes while allowing a spontaneous plant cover to freely express itself including on rolling areas. Permeable residential construction allows to compensate for a very mineral context and easily connect the different public facilities.
